On April 8th, 2021 the Premier of Ontario announced the province would be in a State of Emergency and a Stay-at-Home Order was issued. What does this mean to TBYC and our membership?
Each season it is the requirement of all members to volunteer 10 hours of labour to help keep the club operating efficiently.

TAKE NOTICE that the Annual General Meeting of the membership of Thunder Bay Yacht Club will be held virtually online (meeting login details below) on the 30th of November 2020 at the hour of 19:00 to 21:00 (Eastern Standard Time) for the following purposes:
1. Opening remarks and explanation of the virtual format by the Commodore
2. Acceptance of the minutes of the last AGM
3. Presentation and acceptance of the annual financial report
Great news. The Travel Lift is operational and launch will begin tomorrow Saturday May 23, 2020 beginning at 1000 hrs. The signup book is in the hallway by the washrooms of the clubhouse. The regular rules apply to being approved to launch; current insurance must be provided in advance and your account must also be current. Any outstanding fees or lapsed insurance equals no launch. We have had to amend our launch protocol and mast stepping protocol due to COVID-19.
Last week the provincial government announced that effective May 4th certain businesses would be allowed to re-open under strict safety guidelines.
Marinas may now begin preparations for the recreational boating season by servicing boats and other watercraft, and placing boats in the water, but marinas may not open to the public.
Ontario Extends Business Closures to Stop the Spread of COVID-19 Additional Measures Necessary to Protect the Health and Safety of the People of Ontario
The government has ordered the closure of all non-essential services which includes the Thunder Bay Yacht Club Mission Island yard and clubhouse.
Effective Saturday April 4th, 2020 the Mission Island yard and clubhouse will be closed to member use.
TBYC programmes will be postponed until further notice. This may impact timelines for our boating season.
If you're down at the Marina already this summer, why not log a few volunteer hours at the same time by helping keep the TBYC Race Committee boat stay clean and safe for its operators? Have you ever considered being a host keeper at Porphyry Island Lighthouse?
This year's fundraising lighthouse dinner will feature a talk on being a volunteer host keeper for a week on the island. The dinner is a lot of fun, there’s amazing nautical art up for action, door prizes and you will meet, boaters and sailers, tug boat captains, former light keepers, their families and friends.

The Mission Property yard water and pump-out will be shut down and winterized on Friday, Oct. 19/2018. The last date for haul out is Sunday, Nov. 4/2018.
