The yacht club has secured a Maritime Radio Course with the Canadian Power & Sail Squadron to take place at the Mission Clubhouse with two other classroom options available. 

If you are interested in taking the maritime radio course please apply at the following link. You will be asked to fill in your postal code, which will show you the radio courses that are available. There are two full day sessions and a night course being offered.

Radio and scroll down and then click on Update My Results.

Scroll down the page and click on the Schedule and Enrollment tab for the VHF
Radio

Select which course you would like to take.

Day Course (one day) Location: Mission Club House

1. Thursday April 27, 8:30am
2. Saturday April 29, 8:30am
3. Sunday April 30, 8:30am

Night Course (4 night class) Location: Superior CVI

1. Starts on Monday May 2nd, 7:00 pm at Superior High School CVI

You will receive an email to confirm your enrollment.

Your course material will come via mail or be provided at a central location
for pick-up (You will be informed if this is the case). Booking is to be
completed through the CPS website only.

Course Description:

The Maritime Radio course teaches emergency radio procedures and everyday
operating techniques. Learn all about the uses of marine radios, choice of
frequencies, operation, phonetic alphabet, procedural words and phrases, as
well as Digital Selective Calling and the Global Maritime Distress and Safety
System, (DSC/GMDSS). All mariners, including recreational boaters, will want
to take advantage of the many features and capabilities of this innovative
form “automatic” radio. Secure your lifeline. Be sure that you and your
family take the Maritime Radio course. This complete package will prepare you
for the Restricted Operator Certificate (Maritime) with DSC Endorsement
exam which is included as part of this courses. To operate a maritime radio,
you need the certificate. It's the law!
