The TBYC is offering the popular New Crew Program once again for the 2017 season!

Adults with little or no prior sailing experience are encouraged to join experienced sailor and educator Bill Dunlop for a two-weekend program that will give them a practical foundation for joining a boat as crew for TBYC sail races.

This introduction consists of 4 classroom and on-the-water sessions, based out of Oliver Road Community Centre (563 Oliver Road). The total cost is $165, and includes a 2017 TBYC Associate Membership at $25 and $140 for the program.

The Race Committee is pleased to announce that the Crew Development Program will be offered this spring. This program will be of interest to our racing crews who wish to advance their understanding of the boatspeed, tactical and strategic issues that arise on the race course. In short it is directed to skippers and crew members who wish to up their game.

Our belief is that an increased understanding of the decisions that are made on the race course will make our sport more fun and enhance the contribution that our crews can make during a race.

The City of Thunder Bay is considering implementing a pay parking system at Prince Arthurs Landing for the Pearl Street “Boaters Lot” and the North Lot (by the Tai Chi area) beginning in 2018.  At the present time the city is not considering implementing paid parking on the Piers (1 and 3), but there may be situations where boaters need to pay for parking in the paid lot if the parking spaces on the piers are full.
