This race is run annually on Canada Day and the associated trophy is sponsored by the Mayor of the City of Thunder Bay.

Membership in the Thunder Bay Yacht Club is not required. The race is typically pursuit-style and is often held inside the breakwall to faciliate easy viewing by all of the people enjoying the activities at Marina Park on Canada Day.
